Magic the Gathering “Arena” : Launch

Magic the Gathering is a well known, popular card game played by millions all over the world. We were asked to create a launch film for Magic the Gathering Arena, the digital version of the game. How do you get millions of Magic fans to check out the digital version? Simple Challenge them! The metrics were fantastic as the game moved seamlessly into the digital world.

As stated above, Magic is a card game. So there were a lot of nerves when it came to bringing the game digital. How would their core audience react? Would gamers play Magic online? Lots of questions and this video was created to get all of the key targets excited and in the right state of mind to accept Magic the Gathering in a new digital form. Magic the Gathering Arena. The video was well received by both audiences and led to a fantastic launch. Which is great because we fought like we were fighting the Battle for Baldur’s Gate to get it made! Ok, no we didn’t but wanted a nice Magic reference here to make it stick!

Like all other online games, MTG (That’s Magic the Gathering) decided to move into the world of eSports. We were asked to create a video to launch that endeavor and take Magic into a world they had never been before - eSports. The launch was successful and now Magic players have one more way to get involved with the game they love.
